Taking A Chunk Out Of God’s Hand – a Thanksgiving Message

I have a friend who used to be a cabinet-maker. I said “used’’ to be a cabinet-maker. Like so many, the saw eventually takes a chunk out of something.  In this case, it was the tops of two or three fingers.  My wife felt sorry for him, especially in the winter, so she tailored some gloves that matched his hand.

The phrase, “Never Bite The Hand That Feeds You,” explains the importance of acting respectfully toward those you depend upon.

It is interesting how much God gets blamed.  When something bad happens we might say, “I can’t believe in a God that lets this happen.”  However, how many times do we thank Him for all that his hand does supply us? People tend to forget God until some tragedy takes place then line up to take a chunk out of His hand!  It’s easy to blame someone we don’t know.

For people of faith, God is our great provider, but sometimes we “bite the hand that feeds us.” We sometimes act ungratefully toward God.  We take His gifts without a thank you.

I don’t know what you and your family are going through. Many of us carry stories of pain and struggle.  I know the challenges of our family.  God knows and understands our needs and may be working in ways we cannot see at the time but may be revealed later.

As we sit at the “table of thanks” on Thanksgiving, may we express our gratitude to the One who has, and will, continue to provide for us.
